New Patient Information

Getting started, made simple

Starting mental health care can bring up a lot of questions, and you don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. This page walks through what to expect as a new patient at Alpine Psychiatry, from your first appointment to ongoing care.

A few things to know before you begin

Alpine Psychiatry provides psychiatric care for patients ages 7 to 70.

Availability can vary by service and provider, including for interventional treatment options. Our team can confirm what's available for your needs when you schedule.

We're in network with most major commercial insurance plans and Medicare.

We're not currently able to accept Medicaid.

If you've had an inpatient hospitalization within the past 12 months, let our intake team know when you reach out.

Depending on your current needs, they'll help determine whether Alpine Psychiatry is the right fit right now, or help connect you with additional support.

If you'll need disability paperwork completed, our providers are able to do this once you've been an established patient for at least six months.

Before your appointment

A few simple steps can help your first appointment go smoothly:

  • Complete any intake forms sent to you

  • Have your insurance card on hand (including full name, address, and DOB of policy holder)

  • Add a credit card to your account, which is used for copays, co-insurance, and any applicable fees

  • Make a list of any current medications, including dosages

  • Note any previous mental health treatment or providers, if applicable

  • Choose whether you'd like to meet virtually or in person (options dependent on services selected)

If you have questions about any of these steps, our team is available to help before your appointment.

What to expect at your first appointment

Your first appointment is mostly conversation. You'll talk with your provider about what's bringing you to care, and together you'll begin figuring out what happens next.

Your provider may ask about your current concerns, health history, and what you're hoping to get out of care. There's no need to prepare a summary in advance. Your provider will guide the conversation and ask what's needed.

From there, you and your provider will begin building a plan together, whether that means medication options, therapy, interventional care, or a combination of approaches based on what fits your needs.

Communication

Alpine Psychiatry communicates with patients primarily through Spruce, a secure, HIPAA-compliant messaging platform that helps our team respond to questions and requests quickly. For patients younger than 14, an account is created for a parent or guardian. Patients age 14 and older have their own account, in addition to their parent or guardian's.

Scheduling and appointment policies

Appointments can be scheduled virtually or in person, depending on the service and location.

We ask for at least 48 business hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less notice are subject to a fee, charged to the credit card on file. Current fee amounts are outlined in your intake paperwork.

Ongoing care is scheduled around what you need. Some patients start with more frequent appointments, while others settle into a steady rhythm over time. Your provider will work with you to figure out what makes sense for your care.

Care that works with your insurance

Alpine Psychiatry accepts most major insurance plans, helping make ongoing psychiatric care more accessible. If you have questions about your coverage, our team can help verify your benefits before your first appointment.
